The Legend area displays a legend for the map. Different symbols, such as lines, circles, or triangles, are used to denote the features represented on each layer. The legend displays the color and type of symbols used to denote each layer. For example, if you see a blue cross-hatched area on the map, the legend would display a small blue cross-hatched symbol along with the name of the feature that that symbol represents.
